VHS-tape-books by Marenne VHS-tape-books by Marenne
Created these 'VHS-books' by screwing the tapes open and removing all loose objects. I also removed one side of the plastic material. I used a variation of the Secret Belgium Binding to put everything together. The pages in the book all have gear shaped holes in them to mimic the original content of the plastic covers.

I've been wondering what creative use could be made of these video casings. This is very clever.

Wow... these are amazing! I love the idea ^.^ I'm actually very tempted to try this for myself. It's a great way to recycle old VHS tapes! (I just looked at your blog... everything you've made is absolutely fantastic! I'm astounded by your creativity and execution of such wonderful creations!) =D

You're welcome! I'll definitely have to do that. ^.^ I work with very sharp needles on a typical day and exacto knives, so I'll definitely be careful.
€20 is actually rather cheap for something of this high caliber... Once I get back to work, I'll have to visit that blog of yours again =)
You make custom books, correct?
(By the way, I love the idea of the eurocents book!)

Hihi, when I was cutting one of these covers clean, I cut my hand pretty bad, hence the warning :P
Hmm, depends on how you look at it, I suppose. If you just want a notebook, you can get one for 50 cents :P
Thank you :) Yes I do, but not really professionally. I'm still in school, learning to be a graphic designer.
(Thanks. I collected some old Dutch guldens, that I want to use, but they're pretty heavy :P)
Thanks for the watch! :D

Ooh ouch! Well, thank you for the warning ^.^
Yeah, that is true...but the people who simply want a cheap notebook wouldn't appreciate your work like it should be appreciated.
You're welcome ^^ ...oh that's neat, I'm still in school too (but not for graphic design =P)...I asked because I might commission you in the future if you would be interested. I think my sister would love to have a handmade journal/sketchbook of some sort (I've been brainstorming birthday gift ideas ^.^)
I LOVE different types of currency, especially old coins! My grandfather used to collect all types of currency because he was in the military and spent most of his life in other countries...
You're welcome! I can't wait to see what you come up with next!

So what are you studying?
Oh, I would love to do a commission. The best one's are when I can create a book to match someone's interest or personality. Cause those are truly unique!
Me too! But I don't collect them, cause I have too many other expensive hobby's :P

I'm studying Molecular/Cellular Biology ^.^
Yay! I'm going to try to be inconspicuous and figure out what she would want =) I still have quite a few months until she turns 19 (her birthday is the 16th of October)... I'll be sure to give you plenty of notice though!
Crafting is my most expensive hobby, I have so many craft supplies that were purchased out of a simple interest. I would love to collect them, but it's not very easy to do. So I resort to things that I find or stumble upon lol ^.^ ...it's a very small collection with only a few coins, but I'm still young ;)

Ah, my brothers girlfriend just started her masters in that. Never really asked for specifics but I do know there's a lot of beauty in cells!
Okay, do that! :D
Hm yes, I know! I just bought a router cause I want to do some wood inlay. Not cheap! Though I must say that 90 percent of my equipment is either second-hand or home-made!
Hmmz, I have some extra small old dutch, english and euro-coins to add to your collection if I end up doing a commission for you :P

Yes, they were about to be thrown in the dumpster, so I saved them :)
Now, I've collected audiocassettes, floppy-disks, records, cd's, etc. If only I had the time to turn them into something new :)
